What is worship?

Worship is the most single important thing or activity a person can do on  earth that would bring forth everything that is within him or her.. Who you worship is who you become like in life and what you worship is who you serve.  God is looking for true worshippers who know Him for who He really is. God is calling His people to a deeper level to walk with Him; it’s time for us to experience the Glory of God in our lives like never before.
The bible says in (John 4:19-24) Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is inJerusalem. Jesus declared, “Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor inJerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth. ”
The bible tells us that God is the only one we should worship and serve. “Thou shall worship the Lord your God and Him only shall thou serve” (Matt 4:10).  “Thou shall worship no other god, for Jehovah whose name is jealous, is a jealous God” (Ex 34:14). Worship is a principle that has been from the creation of man, and it is only attributed to God and no other gods. This is the primary duty of man on earth; God alone is worthy to be worshipped.
Do you need healing? Don’t just seek healing, worship the Healer. Do you need provision? Don’t just seek provision, worship the Provider. Do you need deliverance? Don’t just seek deliverance, worship the Deliverer. Get in love with the King, not just the promises of the Kingdom. That’s when the Glory shows up. Let it pour from your heart. Tell Him that you love Him and worship Him for His goodness, His faithfulness, His patience, His Holiness, His mercy and His long suffering towards you. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you worship God. He will and you will find yourself caught up in the Glory.
There is no greater time than now to truly begin to have an intimate relationship with God, for we are in a season of His presence and in the days of His glory. We should want a deeper revelation of who He is so that we can relate to Him on that level. When we relate to Him on the level of where He is then things will begin to be clearer to us about the things of God. For us to really want to worship God we need to have a desire for Him. When life is not going well for a person, he or she desires to have a better life than what they are experiencing. Such a person will need to desire Him in their life before He can come in and abide so as to improve the person’s situation. And be assured He would not force Himself on us because of who he is.
King David desired more of God that is why he was able to be close to God the way he was and that is why God said David is a man after my own heart. Paul the apostle also had a desire to know Jesus Christ more than the other apostles did. He said ‘that I may know Him which shows his desire in wanting to know more of God and know Him for who He really is. It’s our desire that starts us off on our journey of worship with God.
For your ministry to flourish your worship life must improve on a daily basis in order to have an excellent ministry. The reason i say this is because if you don’t have a personal worship life you cannot lead others in worship. This does not just relate to the worship team but to every single Christian. Your worship life tells how well you know your God, you must be able to know God on a daily basis and not just on Sundays. This is very important if you want your ministry to go far. You must cultivate a very powerful worship life from now. Your worship determines your destiny in life because who you worship determines where you spend eternity and for us God is who we worship and heaven is our destination.
I am challenging you to get to know God better than you have ever known Him before and to experience His presence and glory in your life like never before.
My prayer is that you would be drawn into a deeper fellowship and communion with God who invites you to dwell in the secret place of His presence and grow in the knowledge and revelation of His glory.

The meaning of worship

Living a life of worship involves giving ourselves unto God by acknowledging Him as our creator, our source, our sufficiency, owner of all things and also expressing honour, gratitude, appreciation, reverence, and humility to God. By doing this we ascribe to God the credit for everything in our lives and also this helps us give ourselves to God as a sacrifice that is pure and true so this means that true worship involves both our attitude and actions.
There are two meanings for worship in the bible which is one in the Old Testament and one in the New Testament. In the Old Testament worship is called SHACHAH in the Hebrew and it is used to reveal attitudes of worship as being humility, respect and reverence towards God, which results in the physical postures of kneeling and bowing down.  In the New Testament the word for worship is PROSKUNEO means to kiss towards like when a dog licks the master’s hand.
These two words make us understand that true worship is a lifestyle of honouring God for who He is and having a life of deep love, submission, loyalty, dedication and obedience to God so we give all to Him. Revelation 4:11tells us, “You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power; for you created all things, and by your will they exist and were created.” We were created for this very purpose; to worship.
Isaiah 43:7says, “Everyone who is called by my name, whom I have created for my glory; I have formed him, yes, I have made him.” Reading these verses lets you know that everything was created to give God glory and worship because He made it that way and we must do what we were created to do and that is to WORSHIP.
When it comes to worship there are two elements that worth taking note of they are the person who is giving worship and the person who is receiving worship. The one giving worship is the believer because God desires to be worshipped and also He deserves our worship has our Father. God is the receiver of our worship because He is the Almighty and there is no one else who we can worship but Him alone. We as Christians are giving worship unto God as the creator of everything because He deserves our worship from a pure heart and by doing this we show God how much He is worth to us. The more you worship Him shows how much you think of Him, if we give Him less worship that means we don’t respect and reverence Him enough to worship Him.
The bible tells us that God is the only one we should worship and serve. “Thou shall worship the Lord your God and Him only shall thou serve” (Matthew 4:10).  “Thou shall worship no other god, for Jehovah whose name is jealous, is a jealous God.” (Exodus 34:14). Worship is a principle that has been from the creation of man, and it is only attributed to God and no other gods. This is the primary duty of man on earth; God alone is worthy to be worshipped.
Human beings were made to worship, some may not be sure if they worship or not but we all worship a higher source, something or someone. The majority of people worship their job, some worship money, some worship possessions, some worship movies, some worship TV stars or music icons, some worship sports personalities and some people worship themselves cause of their status in life. So we can see that people worship something but even though everyone engages in some sort of worship some think that they do not because they do not understand the true meaning of worship.
Jesus spotlighted that fact with the words: “…and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with your entire mind…”this is the great and first commandment!” (Mark 12:30, NIV).When we live and obey the great and first commandment then we can fulfil the great commission because it all comes down to LOVE.
